Teachers receive materials to cover in advance in the classroom. In this way, students are introduced to themes about war, liberation and the meaning of freedom today. The package consists of worksheets, questions and assignments that match the level of the group. This way, students come prepared to the Holten Canadian Cemetery Information Center and the tour is well suited to their experiences.
Give each stone a story
The Canadian cemetery in Holten has 1,394 graves. The soldiers buried here paid the highest price for our freedom, their lives. With the project Give each stone a story we give secondary school students the opportunity to get acquainted with the life stories of our liberators and to research new information themselves. Our research team teaches them how to make a biography of a soldier who died in the field with real Canadian service files. The new information will be added to our database with life stories.
Lecture on location
Looking for a speaker for your school, company, association or foundation? On request, volunteers from the Information Center provide lectures about the Canadian Cemetery and stories about war and freedom on location. With a presentation, images and stories, we provide an impression on location of what can be discovered in the field and in the information center.
- Duration: 2 x 45 minutes.
- Price: €95.00, excluding travel costs (€0.35 per km).
Customization
For groups with specific needs, we adapt programs. This can include an in-depth look at a specific theme, a shorter or longer tour, or methods that are better suited to the group. We also make customized programs for special education. Together, we look at the possibilities, so that each visit is educational and appropriate.
Deployment of dialogue coaches
At the Canadian cemetery, we reflect on soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. But how do we really honor their legacy? By ensuring that peace and freedom continue to exist today. That starts small: a good conversation with each other. In our information center, you can experience how powerful a real conversation can be about topics that we find important together. In doing so, our experienced dialogue coaches will guide you. They coach you towards a form of conversation that does not divide, but rather connects and enriches. We offer the dialogue for your school (secondary education), company, association or foundation.
